If you are a new believer, welcome to the family of God! You are redeemed, forgiven, and heaven rejoices over you!
As a new follower of Christ, you may be wondering, "What do I do now?" The Bible offers important principles and clear answers to that question.
As a new Christian, water baptism should be a first act of obedience. Baptism symbolizes your new life in Christ and proclaims that you are now committed to Jesus. Jesus himself was baptized and He calls His followers to also be baptized.
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen" Matthew 28:19-20.

As a new or seasoned Christian, it is imperative to spend time reading and memorizing God's Word. This is God's primary method of communicating with us and sanctifying His church.
"Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." John 17:17
We recommend that you begin your reading with the Gospel of John or one of the other Gospels to read for yourself what Jesus taught and did during His time on earth. A website and app that we often suggest to our church members is Bible Study Together. Lots of people benefit from using the audio version as well.
Prayer is simply talking with God. Prayer does not need to be formal and can occur any time, any place. In Luke 18, Jesus contrasts the prayer of a publican and a Pharisee.
"The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." Luke 18:11-14
It isn't the words that we say that matters so much, but rather the position of our hearts. God resists those that are proud, thinking that they have done something to deserve his attention, but gives ear to those that are humbled that such a holy God would listen at all. (1 Peter 5:5-6)
Additionaly, we are to praise God day and night. If we desire to know Him more deeply, we must communicate with Him regularly. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
Throughout each day, you can give thanks to God, ask Him to answer your daily needs, and pray on behalf of others. It’s also important to pray together with others who follow Christ, encouraging each other, praising God, and seeking answers to everyone’s requests. (Matthew 6:9-13)
We hope that you will take the time to look up the following Scriptures that attest to God's faithfulness to His children in answering their prayers.
Romans 10:9-10, James 1:5, 1 Peter 2:24, Philipians 4:19

Over and over in the New Testament, we are instructed to love one another, serve one another, encourage one another, and pray for one another. Each of these commands requires relationships with other Christians and it is within the context of these associations that we are equipped, encouraged, and edified as believers. Again, whether a new believer or a seasoned one, we all need to be in fellowship with other Christians and this is one of the purposes of the local church. If you are in our area, are a shut-in, or are without a local Bible-teaching church in your community and would like to connect online, we would be blessed to walk alongside you!
